Today I was very pleased to receive the news that a bedrock in dig­i­tal pho­tog­ra­phy cov­er­age, the web­site DPReview.com, con­tin­ues to exist after all. I myself have been fol­low­ing DPRe­view reg­u­lar­ly since the begin­ning of my dig­i­tal pho­tog­ra­phy and have got­ten a lot of inspi­ra­tion there. The exten­sive, in-depth and objec­tive reviews there have influ­enced many of my pur­chas­ing decisions.

About 3 months ago, the news that DPRe­view was to be dis­con­tin­ued by its own­er ama­zon after almost 25 years of exis­tence shocked me. I report­ed on it briefly here as well. Brave­ly and sup­port­ed by the loy­al com­mu­ni­ty, the team there has kept up oper­a­tions in the mean­time. The break­ing news today is that DPReview.com was now tak­en over by gearpatrol.com and will con­tin­ue to oper­ate unchanged.

This is real­ly good news for once.
