Restart with WordPress

This will be my new website. Since Koken is apparently no longer supported, I have decided to switch to Wordpress. Since Wordpress is much more complex, this will take some time. But until then my German Koken website at koken.neukamp.de will stay online…

Still waiting for the Canon EOS R5

Yesterday the first copies of the new Canon EOS R5 were delivered from the retailers. Unfortunately, I wasn't among the first ones, even though I had ordered the camera from a major store just 15 minutes after the online presentation had started. :-( Yesterday, instead of the camera, I received the disappointing news from my dealer: "Dear Mr. Neukamp, unfortunately, you were too far behind on the order list to be included in the first delivery. We hope, however, that there will soon be enough supplies and that we will be able to supply you in the first half of August. You will…

Advanced User Guide for Canon EOS R5

Only 3 days are left until the announced release date of the new mirrorless Canon EOS R5. I hope that I will be included in the delivery of the first copies and will continue with my report. At least there is finally something to read: The "Advanced User Guide" for the Canon EOS R5 is now available on the Canon website. The length of the guide gives you an idea of the camera's features: it's over 900 pages. So I have a lot to read on the next days. ;-)

First short hands-on reviews on dpreview.com

After the presentation of the new Canon cameras EOS R5 and EOS R6 you can find more informations and a short test of a pre-production model of the EOS R5 on DPReview. There is also a short video from Chris and Jordan about the two cameras. This all looks very promising. I hope that my new camera will actually be delivered at the end of this month. By the way, another good news: Canon CPS members (at least in Germany) receive an EF-EOS R-Mount adapter for free when buying the EOS R5 or R6 and registering the new camera, see…

Back to Canon - Sony has to leave

As mentioned in my last article, I ordered the new Canon EOS R5. So after 6 good years, my Sony system had to go. I have therefore sold all my Sony gear on eBay into good hands. Why the Canon R5 and why mirrorless system cameras at all? I consider the mirrorless system cameras to be the natural evolution in digital photography. Similar to the development in software, cameras today should allow you to see as accurately as possible what the final image will look like. WYSIWYG - What You See Is What You Get In the days of film,…

Canon EOS R5 presented

The rumour mill has been cooking for a few weeks now: Canon is preparing a big product launch. Little by little more and more details came out, two new mirrorless cameras and several lenses should be released. The absolute highlight of interest was the announcement of the new Canon EOS R5*. The new EOS R5 Highlights were the previously unimaginable video features of the new camera: it is the first consumer camera that can record 8K/30p videos up to a clip length of 30 minutes using the entire sensor width and this in RAW format with a DCI width of…

Calendars for 2021 available

In the meantime all my wall calendars have been updated for the year 2021. They can be ordered now in bookstores or online e.g. via amazon* or Calvendo. Since I could not go on a major holiday trip in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I used the time to review my photo archive. Since a long time, I wanted to use my pictures from Venice and the colourful lagoon island Burano for calendars. For this purpose, I picked some of my best pictures of the past years and created two new calendars: Venice - From dusk till dawn Beautiful…

New calendar available: Switzerland - Engadin and Bergell

After many years, I spent the summer holiday 2019 with my family in the beautiful Engadin in Graubünden in Switzerland again. Of course, the camera was with me, as always. From the many pictures I picked out the 13 most beautiful ones and put them together to the new annual calendar "Switzerland - Engadin and Bergell". You can buy it from now on at amazon*. *=affiliatelink

In the meantime all my calendars have been republished for the year 2020 and two new ones have been added. In total there are now 8 different English calendars (7x Africa, 1x Japan) in the formats DIN A3 and A4 available. Recently, I have added two new calendars from Africa, which contain many unpublished pictures from our last Africa trip at the turn of the year 2018 to 2019: Leopards in the wild* and Safari in Masai Mara*. Like my other calendars, these two are immediately available for order via amazon* and Calvendo*. (* = Affiliatelink)

Sony Alpha 7R III Addendum

On our safari in the Masai Mara at the turn of the year 2018/2019, my Sony Alpha a7R III was able to prove itself in practice. In addition, I also had the new Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sport with me. I used it exclusively on the Sony a7R III during the trip on the Sigma MC-11 adapter. On the Canon 5Ds R, which was also with me, I mostly used the 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM with or without the 1.4 or 2.0 extenders. Of a total of about 10,000 shots I took about one half each with…
