Already on our first day the Masai Mara lived up to its reputation of being the most animal-rich region in Kenya. During our first gamedrive we already saw among others all three big cats. At first already in the early morning a handsome male lion:

Liegender Löwe

Shortly afterwards a cheetah appeared:

Gepardin 2

At noon we interrupted a lady lion at lunch (a delicious wildebeest):

And just before sunset Eric also found a female leopard in a small wood:

Leopardin 3

The female members of the travel group were especially excited (“how cute!”) about a young giraffe, which according to Eric was only about 2 weeks old. Here in the company of her caring mother:

And the day was closed again by a fantastic sunset. Once with 400mm focal length:

Sonnenuntergang in der Masai Mara

And from the same location a little later once again with 14mm focal length:

Sonnenuntergang in der Masai Mara 2

What a furious start for our stay in the Masai Mara - and this time we are here for even 7 days! The evening in the camp was concluded with a great dinner under the open sky, prepared by Obi, the new chef - another enrichment for the camp.
