Troms, Norwegen

After our first trip to an arctic destination in Greenland in 2023, we discovered our love for the Nordic countries. We now also have plenty of “Arctic Outfit”, so we planned another trip with our friends Andrea and Harry at the turn of the year 2024/2025. Curious to experience the polar night and hoping to see the Northern Lights again, this time we headed north of the Arctic Circle to Tromsø in northern Norway for a week around New Year’s Eve.

During the almost 2- months-long polar night in Tromsø, the sun always remains below the horizon. Fortunately, however, it is not completely dark. For about 3 to 4 hours around midday, there is a very special and photogenic twilight atmosphere. However, the darkness and the cold made photography very challenging. In addition, the sky was mostly cloudy and it snowed at times. Nevertheless, I am quite satisfied with the results. Here are some pictures from our trip. Many of them were taken with a drone.

I will write a detailed travel report here soon. By the way, we liked Tromsø and the surrounding area so much, that we have already booked a second trip back there for the beginning of November 2025. so more pictures will follow…
