Note: there is already a new firmware version 1.7.0, which only contains bugfixes.
Again, Canon has released a new firmware version for the Canon EOS R5 and R6. The implemented innovations focus this time on the video area. According to Canon, the following features have been implemented:
- (EOS R5 only) In Video mode, the “Auto pwr off temp.” item has been added to the SHOOT8 menu. When [High] is selected, the camera will not turn off automatically if the temperature of the camera body and card becomes too high, allowing longer movie recording than before depending on the shooting conditions. However, this may cause the temperature at the bottom of the camera to significantly increase.
- Multiple HEIF images can now be converted to JPEG images simultaneously.
- The performance of “Movie Digital IS” has been enhanced. It stabilizes the image when taking selfies or when shooting while walking with a wide-angle lens.
- Other minor issues (not specified in detail) have been fixed.
