Canon has released a new firmware version for the Canon EOS R5 Mark II. However, this is not (yet) the announced major function update. According to the official documentation, the new version 1.0.3 (download here via Canon Europe) only contains minor improvements:
Firmware Version 1.0.3 incorporates the following enhancement and fix:
- Optimizes the timing of the camera’s display of its internal camera temperature warning indicator.
- Fixes an issue that may interfere with the camera’s ability to focus properly when using AF (autofocus) in certain zoom ranges.
Even though I haven’t noticed the problems described above with my camera so far, I installed the new version yesterday, which worked without any problems. Please note the information from Canon:
“If the camera’s firmware is Version 1.0.1, please update the firmware with only one memory card inserted into the camera.”
In fact, I needed to remove the second memory card even during the previous update to version 1.0.2, because the update did not work with two memory cards in the camera. I hope that this issue has now also been resolved.
