April 2nd, 2024 - returning home
This morning we had a delicious breakfast in the hotel’s beautiful courtyard with its babbling fountain. Afterwards we rested a little in our room. We checked out shortly before 12:00 and drove our rental car to the car rental office near the airport. Returning the car was no problem and then a shuttle bus transferred us to the international airport.
As we arrived too early, we were unable to drop off our luggage and had to kill time in a café until 4:30 pm. We then checked in and spent the rest of the waiting time in the comfortable Lufthansa Business Lounge. Boarding began at 19:00.

The return flight took off on time and was very comfortable. We enjoyed our multi-course dinner and then got some sleep in the comfortable reclining position of the business seats. There’s something about flying business!
April 3rd, 2024
We arrived on time in Frankfurt shortly before 3 p.m. local time. We were immediately greeted by typical German weather:

Our baggage did not arrive at the Lufthansa Airrail baggage claim until 16:25 due to a malfunction in the automatic baggage sorting system. Our train to Düsseldorf was scheduled to depart at 16:22. ☹️
But for heaven’s sake, you can rely on Deutsche Bahn: Due to the usual delay, we still managed to catch the train without any problems. We were totally squeezed in with all our luggage between our legs - what a difference to flying Business Class. In Düsseldorf, we were picked up from the station by our daughter.
It was a very beautiful, varied and interesting trip. Costa Rica is an exceptionally diverse travel destination. When can you experience both the coasts of the Pacific and Atlantic and the high mountains in one vacation?
The Ticos, as the Costa Ricans call themselves, are very friendly and open-minded people. The planned trip worked out wonderfully, the hotels and lodges were excellent and are all worth recommending.
