On November 6th, 2025, Canon released a new firmware update for the Canon EOS R5 Mark II (and other R cameras). Firmware version 1.2.0 now supports Canon’s new EOS Multi Remote feature. This allows you to remotely control up to 10 Canon cameras simultaneously. This makes it possible to trigger shots with multiple cameras from different angles at the same time.
To do this, you can use one camera to trigger other cameras simultaneously when you press the shutter button. The settings of cameras placed in different locations can be adjusted using a smartphone or tablet. More information on this can be found on the Canon website. Overall, this is a feature that very few users (e.g., sports photographers) are likely to need.
In addition, several bugs have been fixed again. Here is the official statement from Canon:
- An issue that in some cases caused the live view to be distorted or an Err70 notification to be displayed when the user took a multiple exposure shot in a dark environment has been fixed.
- A problem where image transfer to an FTP server could fail and Err41 was displayed has been fixed.
- A problem that in rare cases prevented certain CFexpress cards from being formatted in the camera has also been fixed.
- In addition, the stability of other systems has been improved - whatever that means 😉.
The new firmware can be downloaded here.
