The Tarangire National Park covers 2850 km² and is located southwest of Arusha near Lake Manyara at an altitude of 1000 to 1500 m above sea level. Through the park flows the Tarangire River, which carries water all the time, causing many animals to migrate from drier regions during the annual dry season from July to October. This results in the highest density of large animals in Tanzania following the Ngorongoro Crater. The gigantic giant and old BaoBab trees are also very impressive in the park.
