Today we had planned to head to Senja Island early in the morning, but Andrea and Simone had bad headaches, and Harry and I were still pretty tired, so we just chilled out for the morning.
The trip from Tromsø to Senja takes a good three hours, so it’s best to set off early. By midday, we had recovered enough to make our way to the Fjellheisen cable car 🚠 on Storsteinen (Tromsø’s local mountain). The view from the top is fantastic, and we were now able to go to the viewing point that was closed for the New Year’s Eve fireworks. The view of Tromsø Island from up there is spectacular:

We stayed up there in the cold for a good two hours, waiting for the blue hour. Little by little, the city lights lit up below us:

I also created a short time-lapse video from these shots:
We then had coffee and cake at the restaurant at the Fjellheisen mountain station. Afterwards, we took the cable car down again and drove back to our vacation apartment, where we prepared dinner and ended the evening in a cozy atmosphere. The next day, we planned to leave for Senja quite early.
