Early in the morning at around 4:15 a.m., our dear travel companions Andrea and Harry picked us up and we drove to Düsseldorf Airport together. Thanks to a good upgrade offer, we allowed ourselves to fly business class this time.
From the parking facility, we took the Sky Train to the terminal. Thanks to our business status, baggage check-in and security screening were very quick, allowing us to enjoy the amenities of the business lounge. The connecting flight to Frankfurt took off on time at around 6:30 a.m. However, the flight was so short that there was barely enough time to enjoy the granola served on board. We had a fantastic sunrise during the flight.

We then visited the Lufthansa Business Lounge again, as our connecting flight to Tromsø wasn’t scheduled to leave for another four hours. This gave us plenty of time to enjoy the amenities. The flight to Tromsø took off on time at 11:15 a.m., and after a pleasant flight with good food, we finally arrived back in Tromsø at around 2:50 p.m. Here are some photos of the Norwegian coast taken from the plane.

cAfter a short wait at the baggage carousel, we picked up the keys to our rental car at the Hertz rental car counter. This time it was a Skoda Kodiaq 4x4—a very nice car!
Then we drove to our apartment, which was very close to the city center. The apartment was very nice, stylishly furnished in a modern Scandinavian style:

After quickly installing ourselves in the apartment, we went to dinner at the nearby Blårock Café, which we remembered fondly from our last trip. I had a burger, while the others had salads. We also had “dirty fries”—fries with chili peppers, onions, and plenty of garlic—which were very tasty. We drank a local Mack beer from what is said to be the northernmost brewery. Simone had a Chablis.

Afterwards, feeling well fed and tired after a long day, we took a short walk through Tromsø—and were greeted by the Northern Lights above Tromsøbrua and the Arctic Cathedral—amazing!

Unfortunately, I only had my iPhone 17 Pro with me—but it takes pretty decent pictures, right? Here’s another shot of the Domkirke with delicate northern lights:

On the way home, we stopped at the small supermarket across the street from our apartment to buy some supplies and then fell into bed, exhausted.
